Wet Cast Concrete Products including Self Consolidating Concrete (SCC)
Dosage rate: ProCast 970 recommended dosage rate will vary depending on the level of air entrainment desired. Dosage range is 0.25 - 4 fl.oz/cwt (16 - 260 mL/100kg) of cementitious materials.
Due to variations in local materials, jobsite conditions or applications, dosage outside the recommended range may be required. Air entrainment performance may also be affected by concrete and ambient temperature and use of supplementary cementitious materials such as fly ash.
Some admixtures, including water reducers and retarders, may increase the efficiency of air entraining admixtures. In this case, a reduced dosage rate of air entraining admixture will be needed to achieve the desired air content. Please consult with your Technical Services Representative for more information.
When concrete mixes are calculated by volume, use of air entrainment will result in increased yield which must be compensated for in the mix design, usually by reducing fine aggregate content.
Water demand may also be reduced when air entrainers are used. Incorporating spherical entrained air bubbles will generally improve the plasticity and workability of a concrete mix.
Care should be taken with consolidation and finishing techniques in air entrained concrete. Excessive vibration and over finishing the surface may negatively affect air void structure.
Recommended Addition Time: Add majority of batch water upfront with the aggregates and cement. Prewet up to 75% of total water. For optimal performance, ProCast 970 should be added separately from other admixtures at the beginning of the batch sequence, into the fine aggregate if possible.
Freeze Protection: ProCast 970 must be protected from freezing. Do not store at temperatures below 40°F (5°C). The admixture is not usable after it has frozen.
Shelf life: One year in original unopened container.
